Managing Stress and Tips for a Productive WFH Set Up

"...if you don't want to increase your risk of  breast cancer recurrance, try to manage your stress levels".  These were the words I received from my oncologist on my last chemo treatment session.  Doctors indicated that my breast cancer was  "enviromentally caused" -- I am almost sure it was caused by the amount of stress I was experiencing during that time.  When we're stressedthe immune system's ability to fight off antigens is reduced. That is why we are more susceptible to infections and illnesses.

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) may be stressful for people. Fear and anxiety about a disease can be overwhelming and cause strong emotions in us. The pandemic has forced the world to temporarily change the ways we normally do things--altering our lifestyle and work habits.  I wanted to share a few things (and my current faves) I usually implement when coping with stress, and to stay focused and productive while WFH.  These habits have helped me, and I hope you can find them useful too.

Thank you so much for supporting our small business and allowing us to send some inspiration and joy straight to your mailbox--or inbox :). X0-K.

The first rule of working from home: never wear pajamas. If you’re dressed for bed, your brain will think it’s bedtime. Some people may need to dress in clothes that are as comfortable as pajamas, but aren’t actually pajamas, to feel energized and focused. Feel pretty and ready to seize the day by simply adding a small pair of earrings to your casual look.

calming candle

Set a mood and schedule out your day. I love to light up a candle to create a zen space. It's a good way to feel relaxed and focused. My current obsession is the Isola Peaceful candle. I love the combination of ginger and frankicense-- smells so clean and beautiful. Did you know?

All of our products are sustainably made-free from paraben, synthetics, and toxic chemicals. If we are not obsessed about a product or brand, we simply don't carry it.

calm work environment tips

Take regular breaks--unplug for 15 minutes when needed. I use this time to stretch and pour (or refill) my cup of coffee or favorite tea :). These breaks help to keep myself focused. Are you a tea lover? You have to check our new Tea Collection--it's to die for! We finally were able to find a brand that meets all of our requirements: pretty packaging, sustainable/organic, social good. Tea Drops has been named the most innovative beverage, and loved by prominent figures like Oprah and Michelle Obama. They make cute and fun gifts too!

how to practice self care

Define when you're done for the day. Take a bath to help you release stress from a rough day with the kids or work--can't skip the glass of wine :). Baths can elevate your mood and help you sleep better. I enjoy going to bed with my eye pillow--filled with  lavender buds and flax seeds, perfect for migraine too! Place in the microwave for one minute and sleep like a baby, literally. The lavender scent really knocks me out, for real!
